(i) - Music playback for SCD - Chris Collings/Jeremy Hill

Chris soon got fed up lugging a big CD player and box of CDs each week and looked for a simple, convenient music playback system. In the last four years he has helped fifteen other clubs and teachers to the convenience and portability of tablet-based digital music for SCD.

There is no right way, only different ways of providing music playback  for SCD. Chris will show the results of a straw poll of dance groups variously using CDs and digital music and discuss the steps and costs in changing from CDs to digital music playback. The focus will be on the ease and convenience of playback and he will also discuss the changing availability of SCD albums in CD and electronic format.

Chris will be joined by Jeremy Hill, Convenor of RSCDS Membership Services who will update us on latest RSCDS ideas and will be pleased to hear our thoughts and useful input to the future of SCD music recordings.

(ii) - Diack Dances - Jane Rose

We will round off the day with a look at the newly published Diack dances commemorating J Michael Diack (1869–1946), who was instrumental in the founding of the [R]SCDS in 1923 and also some other recently devised dances
